condition to light or mere coincidence, but that was the day the pain began. If you can imagine the worst pain of your life on a scale from 1-10 and 10 being the worst, I was at a 10. A few months later came the diagnosis of Spinal Stenosis. For the next 24 months, I would search the internet, visit doctors, try all kinds of medications, and get nowhere. Nothing helped to relieve the pain. One day on the way home form work I stopped for a massage. The session so profoundly reduced my pain level that I become a repeat customer and eventually a massage therapist.
My most recent x-ray (2008) now shows no evidence of structural damage. That is, there is no evidence of a herniated disk or spinal stenosis. I am not saying that massage can cure everyone or everything and perhaps your story will not be as dramatic, but I hope this story does show how much massage, if administered mindfully and skillfully, can impact your life.
It took a pretty hard conch on the head, literally, to get me to see this new reality, but here I am. However, I did not get here alone. Thank you to God first and foremost for what has been, so far and is sure to continue to be, an incredible journey filled with fantastically inspiring people and events. Thank you to my husband, children and mother for their constant support and devotion in allowing me to realize my dream. One other person I would like to thank is my massage therapist whose duty to profession and devotion to her calling helped me find mine.
All these people and too many more to mention by name have been apart of this new beginning. But, it will not stop here. There are many others who I know will be apart of this journey, this new life. New Life Massage Therapy is about a new beginning; my new beginning. My journey to becoming a licensed massage therapist started in 1997. While skating with my children at our local neighborhood ice rink, I fell and hit my head. The accident left me with a condition known as Spinal Stenosis. Spinal Stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal, which in my case, was caused by a herniated disk from the accident. However, I didn’t know I had the condition until three years later.
